Taking Flight Collective

The Taking Flight Collective, initiated by the Center for Irish Music, is a pioneering mentorship program designed to nurture the next generation of artistic leaders within the Irish music community. Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic to challenge and support the school's most talented and committed young musicians, this program offers a unique blend of performance opportunities, weekly classes, and honors projects. Participants also benefit from the guidance of Brian Miller, a seasoned professional musician, culminating in solo performances that are broadcast online with professional production quality. This initiative underscores the Center's commitment to fostering exceptional Irish music talent, encouraging students to soar to new artistic heights.

Carmen and Ava were the award-winning musicians honored to be in Taking Flight beginning in 2022.  In 2023, Morien was chosen as an honoree and his solo concert will take place on April 19th, 2024.

Taking Flight gave all three musicians a unique opportunity - and they all choose to spread their wings and soar.
